Happy Mother's Day!

So my kids are still sleeping and my amazing husband had to make me the breakfast in bed, but I still think it will be a wonderful Mother's Day. Not as full of expectations as a birthday, but with the freedom to announce, "Fetch me my ______, it's Mother's Day!" Or, "You cannot possibly think I will do ______ for you today, it's Mother's Day!" And I will be traveling to see my own mother to bestow my gratitude and a few tokens of my love for all that she had to endure. I bought her a cute card, but honestly I've been wanting to find a Mother's Day card for ages now that reads something like...

"Thank you for not drowning/stabbing/suffocating us for all those years
while you performed a thankless fucking job with little recognition for your hard work."

And for some reason Hallmark won't return my calls.

OMG! Seriously?

So yesterday I found out (thanks Ashley!) that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus The Greatest Show on Earth was not only coming to town but by TRAIN (like in my dreams)! AAAAAAnd they have to walk the elephants from the train to the venue. So they do sorta like a mini parade through town for elephant/circus fans to witness.

And it was glorious and majestic.

The perfect spot at Spagio's for yummy elephant waiting!

OMG! They're almost here!

Elephants! Near my body!

What a great job holding on to each others tails!

Oh, it's a little one!

And horses! Tiny horses!

And to top it all off, I got to see Open Door's brand new billboard! What a great day!!!

Wallace Peck - Sh*t's About to Get Real, Y'all!

Wallace Peck and his artwork are increasingly turning heads (and hearts) all over the capital city. I've had the honor to work with Wallace at Open Door Art Studio for almost two years, and I knew from the minute that I laid eyes on his drawings and paintings that he was destined for greatness. Wallace has a unique gift and a way of looking at the world that no one else can come close to achieving (no matter how hard I try!). It's no wonder that he's blowing up!

This gracious and humble man seems to finally be getting his Karma Cash-in! Wallace's art sales have been increasing steadily for some time, but when he had a small mention in a article we saw that as yet another sign that he was becoming a force to be reckoned with in the larger arts community. We decided that it was time for him to enter some major art events so we sent samples of his work to the Columbus Arts Festival for consideration for their Emerging Artist Program. Wallace was selected, and through that connection (and because he's awesome) he was recently interviewed by both 614 Magazine and WOSU's ArtZine (We love you, Cindy!). Wallace has been incredible throughout this entire process, and we're so excited to get to hang out with him all weekend at his booth at the Fest June 1-3. Stop by and meet Wallace and see what all the fuss is about!
